CUP 3: total plot area of 27,500 square meters
Central Utility Plant 3 is designed to complete the utility requirements of Sabah Al-Salem University City in integration with CUP1 and CUP2. The new central utility plant (CUP3) will provide centralized utilities of chilled water, firefighting water, potable water, and telecommunication network to all the main buildings in the campus.
The Central Cooling system in CUP 3 consists of 18 water-cooled chillers with a total cooling capacity of 36,000 Tons Refrigerant (TR). It also contains a thermal energy storage tank with a storage capacity of 9000m3, which is equivalent to 40,000 TR at peak conditions. The project also consists of external hard and soft landscape with car park shades in addition to the construction of exterior enclosures for main substations M7 and M8.
The design of CUP3 buildings is identical in form, layout and finishes to CUP1&CUP2; the building has a rectangular shape with two lower levels and ground floor.
The building’s exterior consists of precast panels, metal panels and insulated metal panels for the CUP roof This is in addition to steel trusses and pre-finished metal and precast cladding for the main substations enclosures. All surrounded by a steel security fence with precast elements.
